About Us

Having retired and joined the grey nomad set, we enjoy caravanning when we can. Our current rig is a 2014 Concept Innovation 590R on road caravan towed by a 2019 Isuzu D’Max LS-M dual-cab 4wd ute.

The caravan is set up for off grid camping with 2 x 120AH lithium batteries, 390 Watts of solar, 2000W inverter, on-board ensuite, gas heater for those cool mornings and 180 litres of water which lasts us 4-5 days away from caravan parks. We also have a top loader washing machine on board which saves us using caravan park laundry facilities. As a lover of TV news, we carry a VAST satellite receiver to access FTA TV when terrestrial TV service is not available. We sometimes carry a Honda EU20i generator for when we are off grid camping and want extra power to recharge batteries and run the air-conditioner in the van. As some national parks and camp sites now require grey water containment, we carry a Fiamma 40L portable grey water tank.

When camping without the van, we use a Coleman instant-up tent and carry a portable shower, gas stoves for cooking as well as a chemical toilet where there are no facilities.

The D’Max has a Sportsrange 4×4 canopy fitted with a set of home-made drawers in the tub. It has an auxilliary battery (85AH AGM) in the tub to run a 35L Waeco fridge and a 300W inverter. The battery is charged by a CTEK DC-DC charger as well as roof mounted solar panels and is monitored by a Victron battery monitor. Also in the tub is a 40 Litre Boab slimline water tank that is plumbed to a tap at the back to supply drinking water when tenting or on day outings. Accessories fitted to the D’Max include sidesteps, Redarc Towpro brake controller, factory towbar, nudge bar and Uniden 80ch UHF CB.
